Master Plan
35mm, digital scans, 2022
Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA
This series documents the early stages of a ‘community masterplan’ for film industry workers at a Netflix studio on a mesa in Albuquerque, NM. Through images of hot concrete, skeletal wooden frames, tumbleweeds, and empty horizons, it reveals the stark realities underpinning the cinematic worlds we consume. The work positions the entertainment industry’s territorial expansion within broader narratives of extractive economies, settler-colonial legacies, and the fragile ecologies of the American Southwest, drawing attention to the tensions between spectacle and the infrastructures that sustain it.
